CHARLES (Pierre-Luc Brillant), a rather depressive and solitary young man, teaches in the local high school. Always wandering off halfway between dreams and reality, he clumsily tries to establish relationships with others, especially with his mother. He practically doesn't know this woman, who abandoned him when he was just a baby, due to a severe mental breakdown after giving birth. Charles has never gotten over this abandonment issue, thus maintaining a very difficult relationship with his mother.Through his best friend Paul, his awkward father and his ambiguous friendship to an imaginary "Weatherwoman", Charles desperately tries to find a certain balance. In order to express his feelings, he writes them on small pieces of paper which he then freezes in ice-cube trays. While writing his "Frozen Words", making various visits to his mother and perpetually creating frictions with his father, Charles dives even further into his imaginary universe in order to come back stronger. In spite of support and advice from his best friend, Charles stops taking his medication and then establishes a real physical contact with his mother for the first time in his life. Considering himself free at last, he willingly abandons himself to winter.
