In the tradition of Sixteen Candles and Pretty in Pink, this French-Canadian teen comedy is a very charming, heartwarming and funny movie that people of all ages can appreciate. Except for the first American Pie movie, I haven't seen such a good teen movie since the 80s. Of course I wouldn't recommend it to people who don't like the genre, because it sure has tons of cliché and stereotype, but they're all used the best possible way for us to enjoy. While it is clearly aimed at French-Canadian teenagers, I think this movie portrays the reality of any high school kid in the world who live in an industrialized country. The main character, played by Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin, is the typical outcast who doesn't get along with the others. She's been hurt in the past and she never wants to go through this again. That is, until she meets the new girl who comes back from Europe. This movie is filled with pop-punk songs, swimming pools, love stories, popular jocks and angry preps. I really had a good time watching it. I wished I was teen again. It also have dramatic parts that are as good and convincing as the funny ones. This movie truly deserves to be known and seen worldwide. If you ever get your hands on it, give it a look! Watch with subtitles for full enjoyment.
