Synopsis

This stirring drama of love and jealousy, ambition and vengeance is set against the splendor of the 15th century Venetian Republic and based on the opera by Giuseppe Verdi. Master director Franco Zeffirelli has brilliantly transferred Shakespeare’s Othello to the screen. Tenor great Placido Domingo stars in the title role opposite soprano Katia Ricciarelli as Desdemona and Justino Diaz as the devious Iago.
